This might get a little controversial. We’re going to talk about miking a pair of toms (either rack or floor) with 1 microphone. According to many engineers this is a no-no for recording sessions. For live settings, it’s easier to get away with it. But this is also a common situation: sometimes you have more toms than mics or inputs. What do you do in those cases?
