How to loosen up tight wing nuts?

You get the typical “bring your snare and cymbals, we have our house drum set” type bar gig.

And you know what to expect: Godzilla has been letting out his anger at these drums since the 1980’s. The wing nuts are not only rusted, but the previous drummer felt they had to make them rock-solid tight. 

Now, what do you do? 

1. The drumsticks hack:

Place both your drumsticks around the wing nut and use the power of the lever to loosen it up. I’ve used this a million times, it has saved me every time.
